Local Dominator allows you to turn off pins on the maps or move your scan grid.Β
1. Identify Pins on Water:
β’If your grid contains pins located on water, itβs crucial to adjust it to reflect relevant service areas for your clients.
2. Adjust the Grid:
β’Move the grid away from water to ensure it covers only the land area.
β’You can also change the grid shape to a square if that works better for your situation.
3. Turn Off Irrelevant Pins:
β’Click on the pins located on water to turn them off. This will ensure that the scan does not include those areas.
β’By clicking on the pins, you can selectively remove any unwanted areas from the scan.
4. Run the Scan:
β’After adjusting the grid and turning off irrelevant pins, run the scan.
β’The scan will exclude the turned-off areas, focusing only on the relevant service areas.
5. Review the Scan Results:
β’Check the results to ensure that the scan covers only the desired service areas and excludes any water regions.
β’This helps in providing accurate and relevant reports for your clientβs service areas.
Tips:
β’You can create different shapes with your grid to suit various scenarios.
β’Ensure your grid adjustments are based on the relevance to your clientβs service area for optimal results.
When running a scan near a coast, lake, or rural boundary, your grid might place pins over water or outside your actual service area. Scanning these spots uses up your credits and provides irrelevant data. Local Dominator lets you easily turn off specific pins or move your entire grid so you only scan the areas that matter.
π― Who is this for?

Steps to Adjust Your Grid and Turn Off Pins
Follow these steps to customize your scan area before you run your report.
Step 1: Set Up Your Scan
Enter your business name, keyword, and grid size into the scan setup menu. Wait for the preview grid to appear on the map.
Step 2: Identify Pins on Water
Look closely at the map preview. Find any pins that land directly on water or far outside of your clientβs actual service area.
Step 3: Click to Turn Off Pins
Click directly on any individual pin you want to remove. The pin will visually turn off, meaning that specific spot will be excluded from the scan. You can click as many pins as you need to remove them.
Step 4: Move the Entire Grid (Optional)
If a large portion of your grid is over water, it might be faster to move the whole shape. Click and drag the center pin of the grid to move it further inland or closer to your target service area.
Step 5: Run Your Scan
Once you have turned off the unwanted pins and are happy with the shape, click to run the scan. The system will only scan the active land areas you left turned on.
Tips for Customizing Your Scan Area
- Create Custom Shapes: You do not have to stick to a perfect square. By turning off specific pins, you can mold the grid into custom shapes that perfectly match irregular city limits or specific delivery zones.
- Save Your Credits: Every pin you turn off saves you a scan credit. Always review your map before scanning to ensure you are not wasting credits on irrelevant areas.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get charged credits for pins I turn off?
No. You only use credits for the pins that are active when you run the scan. Turning off pins on water saves you credits.
Can I turn a pin back on if I made a mistake?
Yes. If you accidentally click a pin and turn it off, simply click that same spot again on the map to turn it back on before you run the scan.
Can I do this for recurring scans?
Yes. When you set up a recurring scan, any custom shape you create or pins you turn off will be saved for all future automated scans in that campaign.
